How we protect buyers and sellers on the Blaire platform

How We Protect You

Payment Protection

All payments are held in escrow until the transaction is complete and the complaint period expires.

Item Verification

Local ambassadors conduct visual inspections at drop-off points to promote reliability.

2-Day Protection

Buyers have 2 days after pickup to report SNAD (Significantly Not As Described) items.

Payment Security

Escrow System

All payments are processed through Mollie or Stripe, trusted EU payment providers:

  • Buyer's payment is held securely in escrow
  • Seller receives payment only after the transaction completes
  • Funds are released after the 2-day complaint period expires
  • If there's a valid SNAD claim, buyer can get a refund

Secure Payment Processing

We never store your payment details:

  • All payment data is handled by PCI DSS compliant providers
  • Credit card information never passes through Blaire's servers
  • HTTPS encryption on all pages
  • Encrypted database storage via Supabase

Buyer Protection

SNAD Protection

You're protected if an item is Significantly Not As Described:

  • Different size: "Listed as M, actually L"
  • Different brand: "Listed as Nike, actually generic"
  • Different color: "Listed as black, actually navy"
  • Different condition: "Listed as 'like new,' has stains"
  • Counterfeit: Item is fake or non-authentic

How to Report SNAD

  1. You have 2 calendar days after pickup to report
  2. Submit a complaint via the online form or email
  3. Provide clear photos and evidence
  4. Blaire reviews the claim independently
  5. If valid, you receive a full refund

Important:

You cannot return an item just because you changed your mind or don't like it. SNAD protection only applies when the item is materially different from the description.

Seller Protection

How We Protect Sellers

  • Binding Offers: Buyers can't cancel after their offer is accepted
  • 24-Hour Payment Window: Buyers must pay within 24 hours or the offer is voided
  • Fair SNAD Review: Claims are reviewed independently - you're protected from false claims
  • Clear Guidelines: Buyers can only claim SNAD for specific, material differences

Avoiding SNAD Claims

The best protection is honest, accurate listings:

  • Photograph items clearly, including any flaws
  • Describe condition accurately
  • State the correct size, brand, and color
  • Mention any defects or wear
  • Only sell authentic items

Anti-Fraud Measures

What We Monitor

  • Counterfeit items
  • Stolen goods
  • Fraudulent activity
  • Abusive behavior
  • Repeated SNAD claims (from buyers or against sellers)

Account Suspension

Blaire may suspend or ban accounts for:

  • Selling prohibited items
  • Listing counterfeit goods
  • Repeated violations of terms and conditions
  • Fraudulent or deceptive behavior
  • Harassment or abusive conduct

Prohibited Activities

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • • Selling counterfeit or fake items
  • • Selling stolen goods
  • • Using bots or automated scripts
  • • Manipulating prices or offers
  • • Discriminatory, hateful, or offensive content
  • • Attempting to circumvent platform fees
  • • Sharing contact information to complete transactions off-platform

Privacy and Data Security

How We Protect Your Data

  • HTTPS encryption on all pages
  • Encrypted password storage (never stored in plain text)
  • Database hosted in EU (Germany) with strict access controls
  • Row-level security policies
  • Regular security audits
  • GDPR compliant data processing

What Data We Collect

We only collect data necessary to operate the platform:

  • Account information (name, email, password)
  • Transaction data (purchases, sales, offers)
  • Uploaded photos (original and AI-enhanced)
  • Anonymous analytics (via Umami - no cookies, no tracking)

Reporting Issues

How to Report

If you encounter suspicious activity, prohibited items, or safety concerns:

  • Use the designated report form on the website
  • Email us at blaire.exchange@gmail.com
  • Provide as much detail as possible (screenshots, item links, etc.)

What to Report

  • Counterfeit items
  • Prohibited items
  • Fraudulent behavior
  • Harassment or abusive messages
  • Suspected stolen goods
  • Misleading or deceptive listings

Blaire will review all reports promptly and take appropriate action.

Your Responsibilities

As a Buyer

  • Inspect items carefully at pickup
  • Report SNAD issues within 2 days
  • Complete payment within 24 hours of offer acceptance
  • Pick up items within 4 business days
  • Don't file false SNAD claims

As a Seller

  • List items accurately and honestly
  • Only sell permitted items
  • Only sell items you own
  • Deliver items within 4 business days of sale
  • Keep items in the described condition
  • Respond to offers within 24 hours
